As you might have noticed, there are currently three places in which members can receive a starter (with more soon to come): Laurel's Lab, the Kinji Police HQ, the Pokemon Hunter HQ or the Pokemon Ranger HQ. Most of you may be confused as to how your character might be receiving a starter if, say, they are in Kaishi Town and are a Ranger, yet staff asks you to travel in a linear order until you end a thread in that spot. Well, fear not! This thread will help you understand how different classes work so you have a better understanding as to how you can go about getting your character's starter. If you read through this and still have questions, feel free to message RABDOM . Thank you!
Professor Laurel is a rather kind hearted man, and keeps his lab doors open to anyone in need of a starter -- so long as they're obviously not affiliated with anyone dangerous, of course. As such, (almost) every character class is welcomed to come and get a starter from him. However, when it comes to characters like Police Officers and Rangers, he does not follow their guidelines when it comes to giving out Pokemon; instead, you are to ask the staff member who is modding your thread either through PM, OOC talk in your post or by some other means what two types your character likes, and two types they dislike so as to better find you a suitable Pokemon. You may also have your character request this to one of the staff members of the lab or Laurel himself.
Once you receive your starter and your items, you will start your character's journey as rules state.
RANGER HQ ! The Ranger HQ of Kinji is understandably hard to get to and thus would need a better explanation as to how your character got there, especially with the 'restart rule' in place. No worries, staff is willing to give you a few options so you won't be getting in trouble with them. You can choose to either have your character come in via:
- Flying type. Characters can use their own flying type or one borrowed from a family to get there, but it is assumed that the Pokemon either flies back home, or your character sends them back via a PC. If you character is unlikely to actually have or be able to obtain a flying Pokemon, Head Ranger Astral is generally a nice enough person to where she'll lend a flying type to someone if they need it. - Being escorted by a trained Ranger. This ranger will obviously be an NPC and simply just a character you'll mention in your first thread at HQ.
Note that only Rangers and Police Officers can receive a starter here. Getting a starter here is different than you would usually receive a starter, due to the fact that Astral receives her starters from Laurel or catches them in the forest and surrounding areas. Once you manage to track down Astral, the head of the Rangers in Kinji, she'll generally give you five Pokemon to choose from to be your starter. You can choose up to two. If you request a main starter (i.e. Bulbasaur, Chikarita, Treecko) or the baby form of one of the Pokemon from her team, Astral will give you that Pokemon, no questions asked.
Once your character receives their starter Pokemon, they can choose to go forward or backwards from there, and each place they visit will be available to travel to without having to visit the places in between.

POLICE HQ !
The Police HQ resides in Kenso City, which is in the center point of Kinji. As such, it is assumed that Officers joining the force either lived in the city, are flown in either by another person's Pokemon or one of the HQ's Pokemon, or they were another character class beforehand and traveled their way there before deciding to join.
When it comes to receiving the starter, your character will generally be sent up to the Head Officer's office on the top floor of the building, where your character can claim any canine or feline based first form Pokemon, any starter Pokemon, or a baby form of one of his Pokemon. He's a gruff man who has a busy schedule, so he doesn't want much lollygagging on nonsense, after all.
POKEMON HUNTER'S HQ !
If your character is a newcomer to the Pokemon Hunters, it is assumed they'll go directly to the hideout hidden at Rira Way, which is built into the side of the mountain that makes Daku Cave. All new Grunts are to go to the third floor, where they can receive a starter Pokemon from a scientist there. It's assumed characters will get there by traveling with others, traveling with their recruiter or stealing a Pokemon to protect themselves until they get there (note that characters are not allowed to keep those stolen Pokemon).
All grunts are allowed to choose two Pokemon from any first form poison, dark, ghost and normal type. Scientists joining may also choose from psychic types and Magnemite. Note that Pokemon on the endangered/banned list are not allowed unless you ask a mod to randomize your starter(s) for you.

CIVILIANS ! Civilians are a tad bit different compared to other classes. When it comes to starters, Civilians may either choose a first form, non endangered/banned Pokemon under level ten, with one egg move (no hidden abilities allowed), or are allowed to receive a Pokemon from the Professor or a canine-based Pokemon from Head Officer Matthias.
