name ;; Harper Graves age ;; twenty-one gender ;; male home ;; Pyrite Town (birth) > Phenac Town (raised) > Hafu Beach (current) class ;; hunter ****** physical appearance ;; Harper is that weird mixture of sickly yet healthy that tends to turn heads. By no means does this mean he is unattractive--he definitely is attractive in his own right. His skin is pale from lack of exposure to the sunlight. Dark bags hang beneath his eyes from lack of sleep, though he often covers this up with makeup and eye shadow/liner. While on the skinnier side, his frame is lithe, and there is tone from what muscle he has built up over the past few years. You just might never see this unless he puts it on display for you.
His hair is naturally reddish orange and kept no farther than his ears with bangs falling over his face. He has taken to dying his hair, bleaching it so his hair is white with faded pink tips and highlights. Somehow, it works. Naturally, his eyes are yellow, but he constantly wears mint blue contacts instead. On his right arm, he has a tattoo of an eye, depicted in a tribal style. clothing ;; Harper has tried various styles over the years. For the longest time, he could have been considered hipster. It was not until he started dying his hair that he changed his style to be more punk: ripped jeans, a lot of black, spikes, etc. Constantly, you can see him with some sort of black collar around his neck. While nothing more than an accessory, he will tug on it whenever he is thinking or worried. He has a favorite black leather jacket that is just a few sizes too big for him, and he lets it hang off his shoulders.
This isn't to say he is always dressed like this. He has a handful of nice outfits for the rare occasion he needs to dress up. His owns a couple of suits and nice dress shirts, though his favorite has a magenta jacket with gold trim. misc. ;; height: 5'9" face claim ;; Mystic Messenger - Choi Saeran ****** likes ;;

personality ;; With years worth of theatre training under his belt, Harper is a master of manipulation. He typically wears a the mask of a charming young man whenever he meets someone new. He has realized that it is better to have people like you than hate you, so he covers the truth and adjusts as needed to suit the preferences of whoever he meets. Granted, he will not adjust his fashion unless going to (either through invitation or infiltration) an event that calls for it.
His mask only slips around those who are more deserving of seeing his true self. Often this comes with those he is most comfortable with, be it a close friend or his Pokemon (despite his occupation, he does truly care about his Pokemon). Typically, not even those he hates will see his true self on display, saving it for a big reveal that he can add flourish to as if he was on stage.
Behind the mask, Harper is an impulsive brat, to put it lightly. He finds some sort of joy in toying with people, though not even he can figure out just when that developed. He is the type of person who would get close to someone, weaseling his way into their heart, just so he could shatter it later. Aggression is not uncommon when he drops his mask, and he holds the high chance of becoming possessive with certain toys of his. ****** history ;; Harper never knew his birth parents. He was an infant found swaddled in a dirty blanket and left for the Rattata in a dumpster in Pyrite Town. He was found by a Lillipup who had been sniffing around before finding itself sidetracked by the sound of crying. The dog quickly darted back to its trainer and nipped at their heels and tugged at their pants until they followed. Upon the discovery of the abandoned infant, he was pulled from the dumpster and taken to the nearest police station.
The infant was put into the foster care system, and he found himself taken in by an elderly couple with who had recently adopted off the last child they fostered. An infant came with extra responsibility, but they were ecstatic to have a baby in the house once more. They continued to care for Harper until the woman had a heart attack. It was decided that they were unfit to continue as fosters, and Harper was pulled from their household. He was three at the time.
His next foster family was in Phenac City. They were a younger couple with four other foster children, and it was apparent to even a child like Harper that they were only in it for the government benefits. He became the responsibility of one of the older children. The arrangement was mostly forced, but the young teenager took pity on the redheaded kid. He went everywhere with her, and an attachment had formed seemingly overnight. He would hold onto the hem of her shirt as he followed along, and she was the reason why he developed a habit of sneaking out of the house to escape from everything.
Harper found himself pulled from the foster family once more after a checkup found various drugs in his system. The girl and her friends did not care that they were smoking in the presence of a child, and Harper was too young to recognize the secondhand harm it was doing to his body. He threw a fit when he was pulled from her side, and he was placed within an institution until he was finally adopted out.
The woman who adopted him was recently widowed, and her only child had already gone off to college elsewhere. The young redhead was exactly what she needed to fill the void. She eagerly scooped him up and took him into her home, and thus Harper became a Graves.
The Graves was a well off family within the Orre region. He quickly found himself spoiled rotten and dressed in fine fabrics. The woman hired tutors for what she could not teach him, and she pushed for him to focus on the arts and less strenuous sports. He took easily to the fine arts, and he excelled in tennis and fencing. Despite his rough start, he was found to be an intelligent child who soaked up information like a sponge. He was reading at a college level by the time he was eleven, and he was correcting his tutors left and right.
At twelve, his mother made the decision that Orre was not right for them. They packed up and moved to the Kinji region after a recommendation from one of her late-husband's friends. They moved to Hafu Beach, taking over one of the larger homes that was still quite the downsize from their original home. Harper liked the change, though it was obvious that his mother was having issues adjusting. She grew tense and jittery, and there were moments when she would snap at him over something small.
Off-put by his mother's behavior, his old habit of sneaking out resurfaced. He started skipping his tutoring sessions, and he found a new group of friends who became a poor influence on the budding teenager. Eventually, his mother finally made the decision to send him to a private school in Kenso City. He spent a few years there until he was sixteen when he managed to skip a few grades and graduate early. Harper was given a full ride to a nearby university, and, while he accepted the scholarship for a major in computer science and a minor in a Pokemon history, he only maintained the facade of a good student for his mother.
Good grades, perfect attendance, and a smile that drew everyone in--he was a model student. The one smudge on that perfect persona was the club he joined, one that masqueraded as a simple Pokemon fanclub. The club itself, however, was actually a startup for those interested in the underworld of the Kinji region. Members were sworn to secrecy and taught various skills pertaining to Pokemon tracking and trapping. They took trips to auctions and underground markets for illegal trade, and they prided themselves in having alumni in high places in organizations of Pokemon hunters and more.
Harper graduated with honors, and the club was forced to disband the next semester once the university caught on.
He spent a few months after graduation with his mother, making sure she was well. She disproved of the liberties he took with his appearance, but there was nothing she could do since he was an adult now, as pained as she was to make that realization.
Not too long ago, he was approached by a former member of the club, and he was handed an invitation to become a full-fledged Pokemon Hunter. ****** ooc name ;; Tempest how did you find us ;; Support rp sample ;; Taken from another site.
Oh, a pen.
His single eyed gaze followed the other's movements, briefly noting the childish act of sticking out his tongue. With the discovery of the pen and the reason for being on the floor, his blue eye traveled back up. While aware of being scrutinized himself, he made no show of discomfort. There was nothing but calm laced with curiosity. As the green haired boy began to speak, his lips parted and curved into a small 'o'. The reasoning was a lie, that much he was aware of, but he chose to play along. "I am surprised anything shines up here. You must have found an artifact worth keeping."
Sunshine pulled his attention away from the orphan and to the mess behind. Had he been writing? What for? Curiosity glimmered in his eyes, but he forced himself to return his gaze to Ain as he was threatened in a soft voice. He blinked once, his features flattening with consideration. With a small hum on his lips, Sunshine stood up. "No, thank you." He finally said, as if he had been given a choice in the matter. Thin fingers laced behind his back as he stepped closer to see what Ain had been doing.
"What were--" he was about to voice his curiosities, but he was stopped as soon as a false siren split through the air. A single blue eye pulled up to see one of the Blackburn children sliding down a pile of who knows what. "... Dessert usually comes after dinner. Do you mean snacks? I can live without those."
