It was a crisp autumn day in Kenso city; it's people bustling to and fro in order to get their various types of work completed for the end of the day. Many Pokemon aided them in their daily activities, not wandering too far from their owners; the crowds too dense to leave room for errors that could eventually get one lost in the hustle and bustle of people.
James kept close to the tall, intimidating buildings of the more populas part of town; many businesses and a few houses sat close together and loomed over its residence like daunting figures. James was more accustomed to the simple life in Rustburo, and while cities such as Slateport offered an abundance of people and shops, none of it compared to this. It was a wonder how people lived so close together.
Faxel seemed unfazed by all the noise and sights and sounds; the small Psychic type leading a few feet ahead of the red head and looking with wide eyes at all of the different types of buildings and the Pokemon that followed the humans closely. At least, James figured as they rounded another corner, Faxel's lead caused oncoming people to automatically go around the Pokemon and thus him as well.
"We'll have time to look at shops later," said James as he caught up to the small Pokemon, who was staring in to one of the shop windows full of children's toys. "We should be looking for the Pokemon Center so we can check in and let mother know how we're doing."
<"Hm? Oh!"> Fax was quick to continue walking, obviously disappointed by the fact that they couldn't continue looking at shops. <"Food?"> he asked as he fell in line beside his trainer.
"Not until the Pokemon Center," James said in an even tone, stopping at a cross walk and patiently waiting for their turn to cross.
<"Oh,"> said Fax, sounding disappointed. The Elygem seemed to think for a moment, before turning and slipping away. It wasn't until the mob was surging forward that James realized that the Elgyem was no longer with him.
Panic began to slowly seep through him as the tall man managed to push away and back onto the sidewalk, eyes scanning everywhere in search of the small Pokemon. 'Just stay calm,' James told himself as he started down back the way he had came, wondering why on Earth his Pokemon had left his side without telling him. Maybe someone had taken him? Highly unlikely.
His anxiety was starting to get the better of him when he spotted the Pokemon -- again making his way towards a shop with a large window displaying their contents. The small Pokemon was approaching a figure who had momentarily slowed to look over the contents of the window, and with a small hand reached up and tugged the person's pant leg. If one knew nothing of Pokemon, one might have mistaken the little Pokemon for a child in a Pokemon costume.
<"Help?"> the Elegyem was trying to ask the person -- not seeming to realize he needed to project his voice the same way he did with his trainer -- as James approached.
"Oh, I'm sorry about him," James started, swiftly picking up the small Pokemon and pulling him against his chest; Faxel giving his trainer a rather confused look. "He likes to wander off sometimes. Probably thought we needed help."
<"Help!"> Faxel said to his trainer, arms thrown up in what appeared to be enthusiasm. <"Food! Help!">
