name ;; james austin matthews age ;; twenty five gender ;; male home ;;class ;; researcher ****** physical appearance ;; James is a tall, lean man; standing at roughly five feet ten inches. Albeit, his skinny appearance gives him a somewhat gangling look to him; his cheekbones well curved inwards and looking as though he hardly has anything on his bones to spare (granted, he's still well proportioned). Ge is still a very active man, and his tanned skin often reflects that notion. It's quite obvious he does take care of personal hygiene, despite having a soft spot for the outdoors; if ever a way to keep himself clean, his shoulder length red hair -- though often kept up in a ponytail as so it won't get in his way -- kept brushed and his red framed glasses keeping his green eyes from catching any dirt. clothing ;; More often than not James is well kept, and his outfits often match that. On most days -- though often the ones spent in the city -- he s often seen wearing a rather well fashioned vest with a striped tie with a white long sleeved undershirt, black pants and some form of nice tennis shoes or the likes. On warmer days, he'll likely switch out the vest and long sleeved shirt for some nice blue or white collared shirt with short sleeves. A black, fluffy jacket can often be found accompanying him in colder weather.
When venturing beyond the city limits and into the wilderness (and possible danger), James prefers more nature-worthy clothes versus nicer clothes. In warmer weather, he'll often be found in jeans or some type of baggy shorts, along with some sort of hiking boots or running shoes to match. His torso wear often switch between long sleeved shirts or t shirts, depending on the weather; at times, he may even wear a hat to prevent from getting a sun burn on his face.
Winter clothes often consist of his hiking boots, light coveralls, gloves and a scarf. On rare occasions, he might wear goggles as well.
While he does enjoy studying and keeping track of things, James doesn't like too bother too much with how much to carry, and thus only has a hiking backpack big enough for the necessities such as his sleeping bag, journal, food (human and Pokemon alike), and so on. He often wears a belt so he can hang the Pokeballs for his Pokemon off it it, for easy access. misc. ;; n/a face claim ;; Grell; Black Butler ****** likes ;;

personality ;; At first glance, James might seem aloof or uninterested; preferring to keep to himself and instead focus on his work. He often puts his work before friendship or training, which can make him a bit anti-social at times. It's obvious he doesn't have an easy time interacting with people; while stuttering and being at a loss for words is something James does not have, being a tad bit blunt and straightforward at times can be off-putting when it comes to new people. While smart in various aspects, James often has to remember that what he says is not always understood or accepted, and thus tries not to say much at all in contrast. Granted, most believe him calm and passive due to his often quiet demeanor when first meeting him, and that isn't entirely untrue.
James can be considered level headed and well to do in terms of temperament. He is quiet, but not completely passive. He is relaxed, rather; tending to speak evenly unless a raise voice is needed, and doesn't like the thought of getting into an argument or battle unless one is needed or desired. It's rather hard to get James angry, if at all. While being friendly without accidentally offending someone might not be his strong suit, keeping cool in tough situations is defiantly a strong suit for him.
When you manage to keep a conversation with him long enough that you actually keep him interested -- and get him past all of the boring scientific none sense and drawl of an awkward conversation -- you'll find James to be a very interesting, if not tolerable, person. He's often willing to listen to others -- though more so because he's busy with something else -- and offer advice where it is needed. Watching and learning has always been his strong suit, perhaps the main reason as to why he can be so brash; to help others learn is his common goal in his field, and thus whenever he learns something new in regards to Pokemon -- battling moves, etc -- he'll be happy to share it with those who could benefit with the knowledge.
In a less work related environment, James tends to be a tad bit more friendly; or, at least, he can see past his flied work long enough to know that there's an outside world beyond his scientific one. While anti social, James will often make attempts at communicating or being social -- be it holding open doors, helping someone pick up a spill, finding a lost Pokemon, and so on. Conversations can be rough, but he'll try not to leave someone hanging or completely ignore them. ****** history ;; James Austin Matthews was born to a James Thomas and Jo Ann Matthews some twenty-five years ago in the quaint town of Fallarbor Town, in Hoenn. James, Sr was a Pokemon Researcher focusing on Pokemon evolution and the affects it might have on offspring; Jo an archaeologist for similar reasons. Needless to say, while they were and are not rich, the Matthews family was able to live comfortably in their three bedroom house and afford good schooling and babysitters for James whenever they were too busy.
James wasn't entirely ignored as a child; his parents having settled down more in order to focus more on raising their son. James would be an only child, after all, his parents seeing no reason to have more when they realized James' potential in academics. While not an outstanding student, James seemed to take on reading and math rather quickly, and by age five, was already a grade ahead his peers. James likes to blame this on the fact that when James was not with a babysitter or at school, his parents (more often his father than his mother) often had him at work with him, often under the supervision of them or one of their Pokemon.
By age ten, James was almost two grades ahead of his peers (already skipping one grade by age eight), and it was quite obvious that the boy was choosing to stay home over going a journey. That didn't stop his parents with surprising him with a Pokemon on his tenth birthday; a little Elgyem that Mr and Ms Matthews figured would aid their child in making friends easier in school (as being labeled the nerd in your grade didn't exactly help you make friends). While socially he did improve, James seemed to prefer his Pokemon companion mores over his peers.
High school seemed to whiz by, and soon James was graduating at age seventeen. Little was down during the transition between high school and college besides a few trips around Hoenn, though soon James was all too focused on homework and school to care too much for traveling. Elegyem and the few other Pokemon he had were enough for him, anyhow. His choice in degree, however, was not. While wanting to study more into how different habitats affected Pokemon evolution like his father had, it became harder what with new information of Pokemon and humans, and thus school seemed to take drastically long before the six years finally ended.
For over a year after graduating from college, James spent studying under his father who would soon be retired, and studied more on his home front before deciding to travel a bit for more information in regards to his studies. With his Pokemon in tow, James started a journey of his own (albeit a tad bit late) in order to further his knowledge of the Pokemon world. ****** ooc name ;; RABDOM how did you find us ;;rp sample ;; click
