It wasn't like he wanted to happen upon this place on purpose. He had just wanted to become more acquainted with the forest after he got settled in back at Ranger HQ; after all, he would likely be spending the majority of his time in this area, since it was so close to HQ and become so many people got turned around in the woods the deeper they got. So, he figured he should learn the layout of the area quickly so he could better help the aforementioned people. How good of a Ranger would that make him if he got himself lost in these woods?
Apparently not a very good one, considering not ten minutes into his walk, he managed to get himself turned around enough to find the abandon village Astrid told him to stay away from ( avoid would be a better word; since she was the one who suggested to take a look around in the first place, though warned of the Pokemon that liked to play pranks on unsuspecting people that ventured too close too the place ). Standing outside it's borders, staring in to the desolate, decrepit place, it almost seemed more disheartening than frightening.
It had been abandon for many years; it was obvious by the plants that climbed along the outside walls of many buildings. Some even crept inward through windows long since gone, if there had even been any at one point. A few bug type scampered through the trees and the houses; a few small Pokemon making their way among the trees above him. It was peaceful yet morbid. He wandered why this place had been left to rot in the first place. Might as well go and see if he could figure out while he was already lost.
What could possibly go worse, right?
Calling out his newly received Shelmet, the two began meandering around the overgrown structures, Pokemon in the nearest ones shying away and darting off before they could get too close. They seemed weary and distrustful of the two, and Jason was almost worried one might attack them if they felt threatened enough. It was obvious the Shelmet felt at home here none the less; jumping around a few feet ahead of Jason and seeming to admire some of the structures.
It was obvious the little village saw little to no human interaction, even with Astrid's indication that people did in fact visit the place, if not somewhat frequently. It was surprising to see little signs of this; it was obvious that either people did have some respect for nature, or the Pokemon here were just good at keeping the area free of clutter -- and let visitors know such.
