general rules ! Yes, even Pokemon have their own rules regarding what you can and cannot do with them. Make sure you are not breaking any of these rules (though punishment depends on the severity). These rules are apt to change by way of Admin or members making suggestions. 1.) teams. Like in the games and the anime, characters are only allowed six Pokemon to battle with/carry around in their team. While teams can be changed up for the duration of the thread, once a character has sent out six Pokemon, they are not allowed to insert anymore into the thread and must continuously use only those Pokemon until the thread is finished; the only exception staff will allow to this is if the character is in a town with a Pokemon Center, and it is roleplayed out that the character went there and swapped one Pokemon in their team for another. The catch is, of course, that the character must return there in order to get different Pokemon in the thread. 2.) Poke'speech/human like attributes. While in the anime it is found that Pokemon like Meowth from Team Rocket can talk and walk on two legs, such a thing is going to be considered unheard of, and unless Pokemon (such as Purrlion being able to stand on two legs) have the ability to do human-like things through their entire species, Pokemon will not be able to walk and such. However, when it comes to things such as talking, there are a few exceptions. Such as: on many Pokemon sites (such as Bulbapedia and Serebii), as well as in Pokedex entries, Slowking has the ability, or can learn how to, do things such as speak human language. While on NES we ask that a character's Slowking learn how to talk (as a Slowking) before becoming fluent in it, it shows that Slowking (among other Psychic type Pokemon) have the ability to learn how to do human like things. While with other Psychic type Pokemon, we ask that you stick to telepathy instead of human speech and have them learn how to communicate as they grow older/evolve, we will grant Psychic types the ability to communicate with humans in some way, shape or form.

MOVES & ABILITIES !
Most all Pokemon have one -- or two, rather -- things in common, no matter how different they may be -- all Pokemon can use moves based on their type and have abilities that help them and their trainers on and off the battle field. People have found many ways to use these things to their advantage, and in some cases, even discover new ones. But, like most places, NES has some restrictions regarding moves and abilities, and felt that there needed to be a place to explain this.
MOVES !
Currently, Pokemon are only allowed to have up to sux moves. This must consist of four level-up learned moves, one tm/hm move and an egg move. You may swap the TM and Egg move, meaning you can have up to two tm moves or two egg moves; but once the move has been forgotten for another move, the forgotten move must be relearned at the move tutor and replace a current tm/hm or egg move.
ABILITIES ! Like in just about every universe of Pokemon, Pokemon themselves can only use one ability at a time -- and in some cases, these abilities won't change from one form to the next, and will usually match up with the Pokemon itself, such as with types and species. There are also abilities that can only be obtained by finding a Pokemon through the Dream World -- however, due to the complexity of it, staff will be handing out Pokemon with Dream Abilities, and as such, Pokemon that characters choose instead of going to the Lab or someplace similar are not allowed to have Dream Abilities.
NOTE: There will be some abilities, such as pressure, that will have no affect on NES (since we don't use PP). If you have ideas on how to better use certain abilities than just leave some Pokemon without one, feel free to speak your mind about it here

POKEMON ENCOUNTERS !
Pokemon can be encountered anywhere at any time of the day -- but, much like the games and the anime, some Pokemon may only appear in certain areas, at certain times of the day or even through certain conditions! Note that only staff are allowed to make Pokemon appear in certain threads, unless otherwise given permission from a staff member. This post will tell you everything you need to know about how to encounter different Pokemon, where and when!AREAS AND CLIMATES ! As with some real animals, most Pokemon are only found in certain climates or conditions. While there are some Pokemon like Zigzagoon and Rattata who could live almost anywhere, there are still other Pokemon who would need a certain environment to thrive in. You probably wouldn't find a Mamoswine at Endo Island, and probably wouldn't find a Chansey in Daku Cavern. When looking for a certain Pokemon, try looking for them in an area or climate where they would likely be!Also take into account that weather affects areas and the wild Pokemon you encounter in different areas. Winter will bring a lot more ice type out from hiding, where as grass and bug types might be harder to find; likewise, fire types are more likely to be found in the summer, but can thrive in colder environments if there is enough food to sustain them.TIME OF DAY ! You'd think that the time of day wouldn't really matter on the type of Pokemon -- but it can! On NES, you're likely to see Dark, Ghost and certain Bug type Pokemon during the night; where as during the day, Grass and Fire type Pokemon seem to be more apparent! Some Pokemon considered major prey -- such as Stantler -- might be more likely to be found at dawn and dusk, and some major predators are likely to follow their sleeping habits.RANDOM ENCOUNTERS ! During a travel, a trainer might come across a Pokemon that instead of wanting to battle you, is in need of help or one that has lost their way (with the help of a mod). Helping them might earn you rewards from the Pokemon, such as that Pokemon willingly wanting to join you. These random encounters with a Pokemon will grant you various Pokemon, and are usually set in motion by staff if you've battled frequently in a single thread.REQUESTING A POKEMON ! While NES staff wants to make things fair for members, we get wanting to find a certain Pokemon. Maybe it's rare or you're wanting a Shiny, or you're having trouble finding it on a certain route. Under the given criteria, members can request to encounter a certain Pokemon if they have defeated at least five Pokemon in a given thread (though this number is subject to vary depending on the Pokemon you're looking for and how rare it is).
